We are seeking a System Engineer to support the delivery of Intelligent Transport Systems projects in Hong Kong. The role translates customer and contractual requirements into integrated technical solutions, coordinates system design and interfaces across hardware, software, communications and field subsystems, and supports implementation, testing, commissioning and handover. Acting as a key technical focal point, the System Engineer works closely with clients, project teams, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure solutions are compliant, reliable, cost-effective and delivered throughout the project lifecycle.
Your key responsibilities will include:

- Develop and maintain the overall system architecture, functional design and technical realisation concept across hardware, software, communications and field subsystems.
- Evaluate system design options and perform technical and commercial trade-off analyses to identify fit-for-purpose, compliant and cost-effective solutions.
- Define system products, components and subsystems, including their required characteristics, interfaces, dependencies and performance criteria.
- Lead the integration of standard and customised products and subsystems, ensuring that interfaces and interactions are coordinated and that the complete solution achieves the required functionality.
- Maintain requirements traceability and technical baselines, and assess the system impact of design changes, non-conformities and interface issues.
- Plan and support system verification and validation activities, including design reviews, integration testing, Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, commissioning and performance validation.
- Review test results, investigate technical issues and coordinate corrective actions to demonstrate compliance with contractual requirements, applicable standards and approved designs.
- Prepare, review and maintain system-engineering deliverables, including requirements specifications, architecture and interface documents, design descriptions, compliance matrices, test plans, test reports, method statements and as-built records.
- Act as the technical integration focal point among project management, engineering disciplines, clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and site teams.
- Coordinate site implementation and technical activities, monitor progress and workmanship, and ensure installation and commissioning are executed in accordance with approved designs, contract requirements and quality standards.
- Identify system-level technical risks, constraints and dependencies, and work with the Project Manager and relevant stakeholders to define and implement mitigation actions.
- Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, from tender and design through implementation, testing, handover and warranty support, and undertake other related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate shall demonstrate the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical, Electronic, Systems, Control, Computer or a related engineering discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- Five to eight years of relevant experience in systems engineering, electrical engineering or the design and delivery of complex, multidisciplinary systems.
- Practical experience across the systems-engineering lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture and design, interface management, integration, configuration, verification, validation, testing, commissioning and handover.
- Experience preparing and reviewing technical specifications, design documents, interface documentation, test plans, test reports and compliance records.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate technical options and resolve cross-disciplinary interface issues.
- Experience with intelligent transport systems, traffic management, control systems, communications networks, SCADA or other infrastructure systems is an advantage.
- Experience delivering Hong Kong government or major infrastructure projects is preferred.
- Membership of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, or eligibility for membership, is preferred.
- Excellent stakeholder-management, written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across clients, suppliers, subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
