Position Overview:

A skilled WinCC OA Engineer to work and contribute to our multidisciplinary software and systems team, responsible for delivering SCADA-based solutions for tunnel, traffic, and operations management systems. The role will focus on SCADA engineering, configuration, integration, and field commissioning of WinCC Open Architecture systems in safety-critical environments.

The successful candidate will work closely with system architects, software developers, testers, and system integrators to build, develop, test, and deploy operational SCADA interfaces and control logic for real-time monitoring, command, and fault analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement SCADA solutions using WinCC Open Architecture.
  • Develop operator panels, process schematics, and components for visualisation and control.
  • Write, test, and debug control logic using scripting languages supported by WinCC OA (typescript and control language).
  • Configure alarms, trends, logs, and user interfaces to meet project requirements and compliance standards.
  • Integrate SCADA systems with Siemens PLCs and multi-vendor controllers via protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, bespoke protocols.
  • Support on-site commissioning, including checks, control logic verification, alarm testing, and system validation.
  • Collaborate with test engineers and system integrators during factory and site acceptance tests (FAT/SAT).
  • Participate in troubleshooting and support activities during project execution and post-deployment.
  • Ensure documentation of engineering designs, configuration, commissioning steps, and handover packages.
  • Align with functional safety, system reliability, and redundancy standards for mission-critical infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • Proven hands-on experience with WinCC OA in engineering and commissioning roles.
  • Strong knowledge of SCADA architecture, scripting, and graphical user interface design.
  • Experience integrating with PLC systems, particularly Siemens (S7-1500), using common industrial protocols.
  • Experience in commissioning automation or SCADA systems in industries such as tunnels, oil & gas, water, or transport.
  • Familiarity with database systems (e.g. PostgreSQL, SQL Server) for data logging and retrieval.
  • Comfortable working with Linux and Windows environments, and basic familiarity with Git, Docker, or version control systems is advantageous.
  • Understanding of functional safety principles, alarm management, and high-availability system design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline.
  • Certification or formal training in WinCC OA, or industrial SCADA platforms.
  • Experience working on large infrastructure or tunnel/transport automation projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ownership mindset.
  • Effective communicator—able to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external stakeholders.
