We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Safety Officer to support our Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and construction projects, ensuring a safe, compliant, and positive work environment for all workers, contractors, and stakeholders.
About the Role
As the Safety Co-Ordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the implementation of our Safety Management System across multiple projects. You will reporting directly to Yunex Country QEHS Manager and supporting NSW and VIC project managers, site supervisors, and field staff to ensure risks are well controlled and safety culture is strong and consistent across all operations.
You will assist with safety documentation, field inspections, incident investigations, toolbox talks, inductions, and monitoring compliance with NSW WHS legislation and client requirements (including TfNSW standards for ITS works).
Key Responsibilities

Promote a proactive safety culture aligned with company values.

Support day-to-day WHS activities across ITS and construction sites.

Conduct site inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments.

Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.

Collaborating on inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.

Maintain safety documentation, SWMS, permits, and registers.

Support contractor management and compliance verification.

Ensure adherence to WHS Act & Regulations, Codes of Practice, and project-specific safety requirements.

Liaise with project teams to provide practical safety advice and support.

Ability to assist with reviewing and writing documentation
About You
We are looking for a motivated safety professional who enjoys being in the field and collaborating with diverse teams.
Essential Criteria:

2 years or more experience in construction, civil, or ITS projects in a Health & Safety role.

Strong understanding of NSW WHS legislation.

Ability to build rapport with field teams and influence safe behaviors.

Good communication and documentation skills.

Ability to Travel interstate will be required from time to time

Full driver license and ability to travel to multiple sites both locally and inter-state.
Desirable but not essential

Previously worked on TfNSW, ITS, civil construction, telecommunications, or road infrastructure projects.

First Aid, White Card certifications Traffic Control knowledge (not essential)

Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety

Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and quality systems.
