Function: 

To perform various tasks as directed in assembling printed circuit boards (PCBs) and cable harnesses.

 

Duties:

PCB Assembly

  • Work according to the supervisor’s direction.
  • Assemble mechanical components into PCBs and gear trays.
  • Assemble electronic components onto printed circuit boards.
  • Solder electronic components onto printed circuit boards.
  • Solder electrical wiring of looms onto PCBs.
  • Able to read colour codes and identify electronic components.
  • Able to read PCB overlays and recognise the correct orientation of inserting electronic components.
  • Test and visually inspect to work instructions and procedures.
  • Inspect and touch up solder joints as required.

 

Cable Harness Assembly

  • Manufacture of cable harnesses.
  • Ability to read and follow cable harness assembly instructions.
  • Conducts continuity tests of cable harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Ability to distinguish coloured cables for accurate assembly purposes.
  • Use crimping tools.

 

General

  • Recognise and quarantine non-conforming products.
  • Handle, store and pack products to avoid damage and deterioration.
  • Keep the work area clean and tidy.
  • Observe safety rules.
  • Be flexible in performing a range of jobs as required.
  • Able to work in teams.
  • Quality Assurance knowledge.
  • To conduct activities in a safe, quality and environmentally responsible manner in accordance with Aldridge Traffic Controllers Quality, OH&S and Environmental policies and procedures.

 

Authority:

  • To stop production due to non-conforming products being produced for reasons such as faulty or out-of-calibration equipment or faulty supplied components.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in electronic manufacturing;
  • Wire harness assembly experience is highly preferred;
  • Strong skills and experience in cable loom assembly and soldering are highly preferred.
