An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated commercial professional to apply their strong commercial/finance knowledge, contract management experience, financial forecasting and modelling skills, whilst also taking on responsibility in leading the preparation and compilation of large tenders in Australia from a commercial perspective. The Managing Director Finance (MDF) to join our Yunex Team will be based in either our Sydney office in Rydalmere, or our Abbotsford office in Melbourne. The primary responsibilities will be to be lead a team of commercial professionals and execute a major iconic project in Sydney. The successful candidate will be responsible for the holistic financial performance of Yunex Australia, driving all finance related topics related to the Australian business management and lead a team of commercial professionals across Australia. The MDF is directly reporting into the Managing Director Finance for Asia Pacific  with a dotted line to the MD of Australia to support and align on the country strategy and projects.

 

Purpose:

 

  • The MDF drives all financial related topics including being responsible for Tax, Audits, tendering, project execution, forecasting and budgeting as well as reporting and controlling of key KPI to country MD and APAC MDF.
  • The MDF is a thought leader for finance related topics deducted from Hub and country strategies following global Yunex policies and guidelines
  • The MDF Implements financial steering themes and guidance in the business (e.g. from Hub or global)
  • Advocates finance related business needs of the country in the Hub/global Finance organization

 

Your key accountabilities and responsibilities will include:

 

Country Strategy & Financial Management: Driving growth through financial management support

    • Advises on short and long-term business and financial planning and provides data-driven strategic reconciliations (e.g. business cases) to the country MD and Hub MD Finance
    • Supports Country and Hub leadership in determining adequate local investments and investment strategies, including risk management
    • Leads the annual country budget process as well as the quarterly forecasting process together with the Hub FPM organisation and advises in target setting process.
    • Supports sales and bids with financial expertise and leadership
    • Monitors financial risks across substantial projects
    • Provides analysis of cost/spend control and activities to optimizes cost

 

Country controlling & Reporting: Act as strong business partner for local management in controlling related topics:

    • Drives analysis and interpretation of monthly financial results as a predictive tool for quarterly/full year performance expectations
    • Prepares financial performance measurement, adhoc analysis and key KPIs to establish appropriate financial controls
    • Ensures effective and efficient management of the Accounting and FPM activities
    • Monitors and manages capex plans to insure appropriate allocation of capex to projects
    • Builds and maintains working capital and cash flow forecasts
    • Applies global guidelines and local requirements

 

Country leadership: Act as financial Leader of the Country

    • Coaches and supports Finance employees in the country
    • Leads the organization at the side of the MD (e.g. leading selected strategic projects, change processes etc.)

Link to the hub and global organisation: Support hub and global finance Organisation

    • Provides input to the hub for group-level activities analysis, policies etc.
    • Prepares business-related accruals for Hub/Group closing
    • Looking for opportunities to adopt good practices from other Yunex countries

 

 

Specific responsibilities:

    • Financial responsibility for all of Yunex Australia particularly EBIT/EBITDA, Cash Flow, Order Intake of Yunex Australia.
    • Lead and manage a diverse and multi-cultural commercial team and drive success across Australia
    • Support the Managing Director Australia and MDF Hub in all budgeting and forecasting exercises.
    • Strong cooperation with other / finance functions such as Hub FPM and sister entities like ATC and Aimsun
    • Foster collaboration across the hub through knowledge exchange and synergy realisation amongst the finance team.
    • Lead customer negotiations during bid and tendering phase as well as during project execution.
    • Supporting the Project Manager in managing financial results, targets, project gross profit and cash flow using assets and financing instruments.
    • Actively communicating with customer's and subcontractors’ commercial representatives while managing the resolution of commercial issues where escalation is needed
    • Implement new business models that are contemporary and applicable to the ever changing commercial landscape (Alliances, PPP etc)
    • Drive and ensure compliance with set company policies on procurement, process and accounting standards.
    • Closely work with the pre-contracts and business development team to drive growth in the business.
    • Preparation of finance reports, project forecasting and finance management for Australia in cooperation with FPM
    • Support future bids and opportunities with your commercial knowledge and expertise including negotiation with clients.
    • Facilitate month end clearing as well as the forecast and budget process for the business including cost center controlling, budgeting, business case modelling and strategic considerations of future business opportunities.
    • Drive positive behaviour in direct reports to promote an ownership culture, diversity and an environment of cooperation.
    • Training of staff specifically in the contract negotiation and commercial management arena

The successful candidate demonstrates following experience & skills:

  • Degree qualified in Business, Commerce, Accounting or Economics, with sound understanding of Project Management methodologies.
  • A minimum of 10 years of commercial project execution experience ideally across the ITS industry or similar
  • Experience in a project-based organisation which is essential for this role, as well as capabilities in project accounting.
  • Ideally you have experience with the application and execution of the PM@Yunex Traffic project management and have a corresponding commercial project certification.
  • Experience in Construction contracts, Consortium / Alliance projects and civil / government tenders
  • Strong communication skills, ability to build sound working relationships paired with your experience in executing contracts.
  • Strong SAP and Excel skills are ideal, further knowledge of Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI will be of advantage
  • Experience in Contract Management and commercial tendering activities
  • Experience in basic cost controlling and accounting including month end closing, forecasting and budgeting processes
