Regional Operations Manager, ITS Construction and Maintenance for public construction, maintenance, and stand-alone service contracts related to intelligent traffic systems (ITS) and outdoor lighting.  The Operations Manager is the focal point and is accountable for all regional operations team activities. This position also executes financial performance and customer satisfaction of all related scope and functions of assigned accounts/regions plus the ability to identify, scope and sell (independently or in a team) additional solutions to their customers. This position is also the first-line supervisory position and is responsible for managing Field Supervisors and Service Technicians as well as staffing needs. This position is a contributing member of the Area Management team and involved in strategic discussions and direction for the region.

 

Qualified applicants will have excellent troubleshooting skills working with a wide range of traffic signal, and ITS electrical equipment. This position works independently and as part of a team to provide optimum levels of service to Yunex Traffic customers.

 Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with Environment, Health and Safety policies and legal requirements (including but not limited to emergency preparedness, electrical safety, ergonomics, powered industrial truck safety, LOTO, machine guarding, contractor/construction safety, air emission management, hazardous waste disposal, fall protection, lifts, etc.)
  • Coordinates frequent safety training with the EH&S manager and field supervisors/personnel to ensure all team members are trained on safe work practices and use of their personal safety equipment. 
  • Leads quality assurance activities for regional accounts.
  • Build and maintain an effective service operations organization committed to customer and employee satisfaction and profitable growth.
  • Manages accounts for all assigned service customers, providing outstanding customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls all service work and service project activities for assigned projects and/or service accounts.
  • Ensures customer expectations are met and resolves customer issues in a timely, effective, and professional manner.
  • Develops account strategies and sells independently or in a team environment.
  • Reviews customer feedback and ensures service agreement retention and account growth goals are achieved including add-ons, extras, upgrades, escalations, and timely renewals.
  • Develop and implement long-term growth strategy and plans.
  • Ensure regional operations participation in strategic sales/bid opportunities, pre-bid reviews, estimate sign-offs, etc.
  • Maintain timely communications and harmonious relationships between Project Management, Finance, Procurement and Sales to ensure a smooth transition for contract hand-off to the regional service team.
  • Develops, implements, and executes labor and material plans for regional service and project contracts.
  • Ensures proper job management and cost control by reviewing service financial statements, regularly.
  • Accountable for financial performance of Region
  • Achievement of budgets/plan for Revenue, Gross Margin, Sales, Service Growth (if applicable) and Profit for assigned contracts.
  • Monthly/quarterly forecasting of revenue, margin and sales.
  • Lead efforts for Regional Operations cash performance (AR)- billings, collections.
  • Responsible for managing Regional absorption account (utilization, labor rates, expenses, etc.).
  • Responsible for non-conformance cost (slip) performance - monitor and report risks, mitigation plans.
  • Responsible for direct supervision of field supervisors and field personnel (includes performance evaluations and disciplinary actions).
  • Cultivate a customer-focused culture
  • Plans and justifies manpower, staffing requirements, tools, and other appropriate investments for effective and timely execution of assigned service work.
  • As workflow standards and other initiatives are introduced, ensure roll out and implementation across regional operations.
  • Ensure daily review and approval of all field labor hours.
  • Reviews/approves weekly manpower schedules to ensure contract completion and labor leveling.
  • Manages/advises on hiring, training and development, allocation, and performance assessment of personnel within area of responsibility.
  • Performance Management – Develop/implement targets, managing performance issues, utilize employee recognition tools.
  • Ensure proper communication throughout regional operations team – keeping employees informed of state of the business, leading them through change, ensuring alignment throughout the team, conducting regular staff meetings, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and processes consistently throughout regional Operations.

Qualifications (Skills and Abilities, Experience, Education, Certifications and Licenses needed for the role)

  • Industry experience, i.e. managing ITS projects and/or public construction projects, which involve electrical and mechanical, engineering and/or industrial power construction with focus on complex facility infrastructure construction, renovations, retrofits, upgrades, building controls and automation, energy services, and renewable technology is highly desirable.
  • >3 years’ experience in project management, preferably in the ITS industry
  • Experience using SAP for accounting and/or project management functions
  • Ability to organize and perform a variety of tasks and meet stringent timelines
  • Well-versed in project management concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Knowledge of statistics and the development and tracking of metrics and project KPI’s
  • Self-motivated and possess the ability to learn Yunex Traffic processes and applications independently and stay up to date on changes
  • Ability to generate revenue by promoting client services
  • Ability to create and manage project plans within MS Project and/or any other electronic applications as required.
  • Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, etc.

 

 

Desired Skills and/or Knowledge

  • Master Electrician’s license or ability to obtain within 6 months is highly desirable, but not required
