Part of being a #TrafficTransformer apprentice at Yunex Traffic means you get to work on real life projects whilst also being supported on a guided learning journey, and often experiencing different areas within the business.

This will be a 3 – 4 year engineering apprenticeship where you will develop your skills in IT, Electrical Engineering and Digital Technology. This apprenticeship role will be focused on learning how Traffic Systems are installed and connected, along with ensuring safe working and safe installation and testing of electrical installations. You may also have the opportunity to complete a HNC qualification should you demonstrate the appropriate skillset and attitude.

 

The candidate

We are looking for forward-thinking, inquisitive candidates who demonstrate the following characteristics:

  • You should have good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • You are confident when working at height
  • As the apprenticeship involves completing academic qualifications and occupational skills developments, you should have good organisational skills and be able to manage your time appropriately
  • You must be willing to self-learn and research, and take a creative approach to problem solving
  • You enjoy collaborating with others to find innovative solutions
  • You can work independently, safely and responsibly; take ownership of challenges and ideas and are looking to develop your ability to drive and lead change
  • Identify with our values of Zero Harm, Innovative, Excellent and Responsible. We can teach you the knowledge on your apprenticeship however it also means a lot to us for you to align to our culture and behaviours
  • You should be IT literate, able to use Microsoft Office packages
  • In this field service role, you will be expected to drive a company vehicle therefore you will need to have gained a driving licence within the first two years of the apprenticeship

 

Here is what you can make a difference in:

  • Installation of traffic signal assets (including the installation and wiring of controllers), ancillary equipment and/or highways systems unsupervised or as part of a team
  • Complete electrical tests and pre-commissioning activities
  • Liaising with customers and other contractors that may be on site
  • Ensuring works are completed in accordance with the site specification, in a timely manner and to a sufficient quality level
  • Periodic inspections with electrical testing
  • Routine maintenance of highways infrastructure
  • Successful completion of mandatory NHSS training requirements

Minimum Educational Requirements

English Language, Mathematics or Physics at Scottish National 4/GCSE Grade 4 or above

A keen interest in Electrical engineering is desirable and computer literate

Recruitment Process

Applications for our apprenticeships will close between 28 Feb – 18 March 2024.

 

We will be holding in-person assessment centres in early April 2024 which will allow candidates the best opportunity to showcase their potential and suitability for this role by using a variety of assessment types.  Assessment centres typically include a combination of tasks and activities such as group problem-solving tasks, individual interviews, presentations, and role simulation exercises.

 

For some roles, there will also be an initial video (Microsoft Teams) or telephone interview. These interviews are likely to be held during March 2024, before the assessment centre. These interviews are typically competency based and a chance for us to find out what your motivations are for your next career.

 

Our Apprentices will join the business on 19th August 2024 so you must be available from this date.
