Our Consultancy Services team deliver a wide range of traffic engineering and consultancy projects across the UK and internationally. We are dedicated to providing a professional approach to diverse transport engineering problems and work with our customers to provide a high quality and reliable service delivering sustainable and innovative solutions. The team is formed of two main areas, a core traffic engineering team and a consultative ITS solutions team.  The traffic engineering team are responsible for the delivery of traffic engineering & traffic signals design and adaptive and strategic control implementation.

 

Building on a traffic engineering background, this role forms part of the consultative ITS solutions part of the team.

 

Purpose of the role

This is a dynamic, customer facing role where you will take full responsibility for the delivery of a wide range of ITS related consultancy projects including, but not limited to:

 

  • Transport planning/modelling
  • Feasibility
  • Connected Mobility
  • Electromobility
  • Enforcement
  • Air Quality
  • Innovation
  • Funding
  • Asset Management

 

This role will require close working with other parts of the Consultancy Services team proving design assistance across a range of disciplines.

 

Areas of responsibility and tasks

  • Assist in the delivery of a wide range of consultancy projects across the UK in accordance with current national/local standards, guidance and best practice
  • Assessment and mitigation of risks associated with each project
  • Travel to site visits and customer meetings with overnight stays where appropriate
  • Preparation of technical reports and specifications
  • Preparation of consultancy quotations

 

Knowledge & Skills

The key competencies and capabilities for this role are:

 

  • High level of communication skills, both verbal and written, will be necessary as you will be expected to liaise with other parts of the business and with customers
  • Ability to research and identify options for complex ITS projects
  • Ability to achieve objectives with strict deadlines and manage your own workload

 

Required experience

To have a good understanding of most/all of the following traffic engineering competencies:

 

  • Traffic engineering/ITS fundamentals and UK standards/specifications
  • Presentation of technical data and conclusions drawn from that data
  • Report writing including analysis of data and producing proposed options with reasoning

 

Educational Requirements

  • To have or be working towards an HNC/HND/Degree level in engineering or a related subject is preferred or have relevant experience
