Deputy General Manager

We are seeking an experienced senior leader with a strong finance background to support the Managing Director in leading our business across Hong Kong and China. The Deputy General Manager will play a key leadership role in driving strategic initiatives, financial performance, operational discipline, commercial governance, and organisational effectiveness, while ensuring strong execution of regional priorities in the local markets.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

 

Strategic Leadership

  • Support the Managing Director in shaping and executing the business strategy for Hong Kong and China, aligned with Yunex global and regional objectives
  • Drive profitable growth, business performance, and market development initiatives across both markets in partnership with the Managing Director and functional leaders
  • Represent the business in selected leadership, customer, and partner engagements, and act on behalf of the Managing Director when required

Financial Management & Governance

  • Lead financial planning, performance management, and business controlling activities across Hong Kong and China operations
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow monitoring, and financial reporting processes, ensuring timely and accurate business insights
  • Drive profitability, cost control, and financial discipline across projects and business units, escalating strategic issues to the Managing Director as appropriate
  • Review business cases, investments, and transformation initiatives to support sound decision-making and sustainable financial returns
  • Strengthen internal controls, risk management, and compliance practices in partnership with the Managing Director and relevant corporate functions

Business & Operational Oversight

  • Support day-to-day business operations across project delivery, sales execution, and service performance, ensuring alignment with strategic and financial objectives
  • Ensure disciplined execution of contracts from tendering through delivery and financial closure, with close coordination across commercial and operational teams
  • Champion operational excellence, process improvement, and digitalisation initiatives that enhance execution and business performance

Regional & Cross-Border Leadership

  • Manage and integrate teams across Hong Kong and mainland China, fostering a cohesive cross-border culture
  • Ensure effective collaboration between finance, commercial, operations, and technical teams
  • Harmonise business practices, financial governance, and operating standards across jurisdictions

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including customers, partners, and authorities
  • Serve as a key interface with regional and global leadership teams, helping translate corporate priorities into actionable local plans
  • Support strategic partnerships and major client engagements

People Leadership & Organisation Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams across functions, fostering collaboration, accountability, and execution excellence
  • Support organisational development, succession planning, and leadership capability building across the Hong Kong and China business
  • Promote a culture of performance, transparency, and continuous improvement across the organisation

The successful candidate shall demonstrate the following experience and leadership attributes:

  • Strong experience in senior finance, commercial, or business leadership roles, ideally with exposure to regional or country-level responsibilities
  • Strong track record in financial planning, forecasting, cash flow management, business controlling, and performance optimisation
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and drive execution in a complex, matrix environment
  • Experience operating in Hong Kong and China, with sound understanding of local regulatory, tax, compliance, and business environments
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in contract governance, pricing, risk management, and investment evaluation
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage customers, partners, regulators, and senior leadership on behalf of the business
  • Fluent in English; Cantonese and Mandarin would be an advantage for effective leadership across Hong Kong and China.

 

Additional Information

The following experience would be advantageous for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline; MBA, CPA, MHKIE, or equivalent professional qualification preferred
  • Experience in infrastructure, mobility, transport technology, engineering, or other project-based industries with long-term customer contracts.
  • Exposure to multinational matrix organisations and the ability to work effectively with regional and global functions.
  • Familiarity with digitalisation, transformation, or process improvement initiatives that enhance operational and financial performance.
